Altos de Chavón is a unique and picturesque village located in the heart of La Romana, Dominican Republic. It was designed by Italian architect Roberto Copa using old Mediterranean architecture to bring the charm of a 16th-century European village to the Caribbean. Altos de Chavón has become one of the most popular attractions in the Dominican Republic.
The complex comprises several buildings, including churches, an amphitheater, galleries, shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Most noteworthy is St Stanislaus Church which replicates its namesake in Krakow Poland with stunning stained glass windows and intricate decor. The town square or Plaza Mayor is another popular spot as it offers spectacular views over the nearby River Chavón Valley.
The entrance fee could be purchased at the main entrance to Altos de Chavón. The cost for the tickets is $25 USD (ages 4-12) and $50 USD (ages 12 and over). Payments could be done with cash or credit card and each visitor must have a valid piece of ID on them. The day pass includes access to Altos de Chavón, Minitas beach, and Casa de Campo® Marina.
Altos de Chavón is located approximately 45 miles West of the Punta Cana international airport (PUJ) and 4 miles North-East of the Casa de Campo® resort. The village can be accessed by car or tour bus from any major city in the country. Additionally, a ferry service runs from Catalina Island to Altos de Chavón along the River Chavón Valley. If you are traveling to Altos de Chavón privately, then you must rent a car or hire a taxi to take you there. Otherwise, you can get there through group excursions and day tours.

Dye Fore Golf Course is a world-class golf course located in Altos de Chavón. It’s the perfect spot for golfers of all skill levels to test their game, as it offers challenging terrain and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. The 18-hole championship course was designed by legendary golfer Pete Dye and features rolling hills, picturesque lakes, and strategic bunkers. There is also a stunning clubhouse featuring a restaurant and bar with views of the course, as well as a pro shop stocked with the latest golf equipment and apparel.
The Casa de Campo® 13-court Tennis Center offers tennis enthusiasts the chance to play on some of the best courts in the Dominican Republic. Private lessons are available by appointment and cater to all levels, from beginners to experts. Additionally, the court has a pro shop where guests could rent racquets and tennis ball machines. The courts are open from 7 am to 9 pm daily, making it a great spot for both locals and visitors alike who want to practice their game or just have some fun. You must reserve your spot at the pro shop, the court fees are $35/hr during the day (7 am-6 pm) and $45/hr (6 pm-9 am) during the night.
