In 1960, Mr. Alvaro Carta fled Communist Cuba to live in Miami. In the late 1960 ́s he was off to the Dominican Republic to operate the financially troubled South Puerto Rico Sugar Company. With the financial backing of the huge Gulf + Western empire, headed by Charles Bludhorn, Carta formed a new division known as Gulf + Western Americas. The Sugar Mill in the town of La Romana quickly became the single largest producing mill in the world and Carta began to consider investment options for the millions of dollars flowing into Gulf + Western each year. He wanted to take the money cultivated in this country and create a new industry, developing impoverished areas and improving the economic conditions of its people. He targeted the tourism industry and began looking for land to build a lavish resort with a golf course. Carta brought in famed golf course designer Pete Dye to assist him in locating the perfect spot. After drawing up plans for an area just outside of Santo Domingo, Dye asked if there were any alternate locations. Carta reluctantly suggested there was an area near the La Romana Sugar Mill that was too dry to grow sugarcane and too sparsely vegetated for cattle. Carta and Dye ventured out to take a look.

Teeth of the Dog has been ranked among the top 10 in the world. With seven holes directly facing the Caribbean Sea. The “Teeth of the Dog” name comes from the distinctive sharp points of the coral formations along the shoreline, offering a challenging yet rewarding golf experience.

Casa de Campo® is located in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, in the town of La Romana, approximately one hour from Santo Domingo and 45 minute drive from Punta Cana.
Casa de Campo® was built in 1975 as a private resort, and it has been growing ever since. The resort is spread across 7,000 acres of land and features luxurious amenities such as world-class golf courses, spas, restaurants, shops, and much more.
No. Since October 2018, all guests renting private villas or apartments at Casa de Campo® must register with the Villa Owners Club, and for a small daily fee, are granted full access to resort areas and amenities.
Per person, per day rates are:
$25/ adult (12 years of age and older)
$12/child (Between 4-12 years old)
Free—children under 4 years of age
The registration fee must be paid prior to entering the property and can be paid at the Villa Owners Club office located in the main resort area. The office is open daily from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m. (extended hours possible with 24-hours advance notice).

The resort registration fee is paid prior to enter Casa de Campo®. It is payable at the Casa de Campo® Villa Owners Club office located at two main guest entrance.
The Casa de Campo® Owners Club is open daily from 8:30am to 10pm, with extended hours on special occasions. All visitors arriving within these hours will be able to register and immediately gain access to Casa de Campo®. Late/early arrivals must be advised at least 24 hours in advance.
If the Casa de Campo® resort fee is not paid, the unregistered guests will not be able to gain access to Casa de Campo® nor to its facilities. To gain access and use the Casa de Campo® facilities, a Casa de Campo® Registered Guest ID must be shown. Visitors trying to use facilities without the appropriate identification will be turned away.
Pets of any kind are not allowed on the villa.
The minimum stay is 3 nights. Based on season, Easter Week/Thanksgiving the minimum stay is 5 nights and for Christmas and New Year the minimum is between 7 and 10 nights.
