For third consecutive year, PGA TOUR Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship returns to Corales Golf Course, Dominican Republic, from September 21st to 27th, 2020, as Grupo Puntacana – Title Sponsor and Host Organization- celebrates their 50th anniversary of foundation.
The tournament is the first international event and third event of the PGA TOUR 2020-21 season and the only PGA TOUR event during that week, where will participate 144 of the best players of the golf circuit from the United States, Spain, Mexico, Sweden, South Korea, among other countries.
The event will be held without ground spectators and under the strictest health and safety measures. The award purse will be $4 million dollars, $1 million more than last year’s purse and the highest in the history of any sport in the Dominican Republic. Also, FedEx Cup points were increased to 500 and the winner will earn a place to the Masters.
The president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana, Frank Rainieri, affirms the importance of having a PGA TOUR in the country for the third consecutive year, “since 2018 the tournament continues to place the Dominican Republic as the leading golf destination in the Caribbean on a world scale. In this occasion, will be an excellent platform to promote Punta Cana.”
To prioritize the safety of all participants, PGA Tour players, caddies and volunteers will be tested before entering the Dominican Republic and again upon returning to their countries; medical areas with ambulances will be accessible during the event, as well as paramedics and trained personnel to identify and assist to any health eventuality.
Live broadcasts will be Thursday, September 24th and Friday, September 25th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on Golf Channel; and Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th, at the same hours on NBC. There will be daily replays outside of regular hours on Golf Channel.
