Villa Portón - 4-Bed Modern Villa with Fold-Back Glass Wall | Barranca, Casa de Campo
Villa Portón - Modern Pool Villa, Barranca
Mornings start with a swim before breakfast at the covered terrace. The pitched wood-plank ceiling runs the length of the great room, the glass wall folded back to the pool. Past the lawn, a parasol sits over the loungers at the far end. The kitchen is open-plan with a granite island and a gas range. By sundown the doors stay open and the long table sits under the blue octopus painting for dinner.
Villa Portón sits in Barranca, the tree-lined northern pocket of the resort. The Racquet Center is a short cart ride for the morning hit. Altos de Chavón and Dye Fore are a short ride in the other direction, with the cliff-top village and the cliffside fairway in the same outing. Minitas Beach is a short ride for the sand day, and Teeth of the Dog — ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards — is a short ride south for the round. Book Villa Portón when the trip is the multi-gen family with the doors open, not a beachfront villa with the kids in different rooms across the property.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the full-height glass wall at Villa Portón?
The glass wall is the villa's signature architectural move — a dark-framed, floor-to-ceiling glass front that runs the entire width of the living and dining space and folds back to open the interior directly onto the pool terrace. With it open, the pitched wood-plank ceiling carries through to the lawn and pool, so inside and outside read as one room. Closed, it frames the garden like a picture window. It's the reason Villa Portón feels larger and more modern than a four-bedroom plan would normally suggest.
Q: Is Villa Portón a good fit for a multi-generational family stay?
Yes. Villa Portón is built around a single, open-plan core that keeps everyone together while still giving each group their own corner. Four bedrooms sleep eight, with two of them set up as twin rooms for kids or siblings sharing a space. The lawn is large enough for a pool game while a parent reads on the covered terrace and grandparents settle into the sitting area. With breakfast, lunch, and dinner all handled at the villa, meals are easy and no one is stuck in the kitchen.
Q: What does the cook prepare during a stay at Villa Portón?
The cook prepares all the meals at the villa — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Most guests choose a relaxed breakfast on the covered terrace, a casual lunch by the pool, and a longer dinner at the long table indoors or under the parasol outside depending on the day. Menus are agreed in advance and the cook accommodates dietary needs and children's preferences. Groceries are arranged through the concierge and billed separately, so guests pay only for what they eat.
Q: What's included in the nightly rate at Villa Portón, and what's billed separately?
The nightly rate covers the villa, the housekeeper, the cook, and the waiter. Food and beverages, golf cart and car rental, baby equipment, airport transfers, and pre-stocking are arranged through our concierge and billed separately. The 18% service fee and the Casa de Campo Resort registration fee — US$30 per adult per night, US$15 per child age 4–12 — are added at the end. Resort registration covers the three golf courses, the Fitness Center, restaurants, loungers and towels at the main hotel pool and at Minitas Beach, and the medical center at Central Romana.
