Load the clubs onto the cart in the morning and a short ride from the gate takes you to Teeth of the Dog. Villa Tranquila is in Punta Águila, on a deep palm-shaded garden plot in the western pocket of the resort. The five-bedroom estate sleeps ten, with an included chef handling all the meals.

Back from the round, the open-air pavilion at the centre of the property is where everyone lands. The curved sectionals fill up, drinks come out, and the rest of the day starts there. The pool runs out under a sail-shade canopy. By mid-afternoon someone's slipped off to the private gym, and two more to the cinema. At sundown the pizza oven fires up under the pergola, and the long alfresco table seats ten. Bold Caribbean art runs through every room, with a different palette behind each door. Stay a few days and the pavilion stops being the place you go to. It's where you measure the day from.

Villa Tranquila is a short cart ride from Teeth of the Dog (ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards), along with The Links and the resort spa, about 1.8 miles from the front gate. Tee times are arranged through the resort concierge and green fees are paid at the pro shop. The villa works well for golfing groups who play in the morning and come back for the rest of the day on-property. A golf cart can be arranged through the concierge if you don't already have one on your booking.

Q: What's special about the pavilion at Villa Tranquila?
The pavilion is a circular open-air sitting room at the centre of the property, with a high cane-domed ceiling and curved white sectionals around turquoise drum tables. It holds the whole group at once and tends to be where pre-dinner drinks and afternoon downtime happen. The seating is modular, so ten guests can spread across clusters or pull together for a single conversation. It's one of the more distinctive entertaining spaces in the Casa de Campo portfolio.

Q: Can Villa Tranquila host a private dinner or larger event for our group of ten?
Yes. The covered alfresco dining room seats ten, the outdoor pavilion holds a much larger seated group across its sectionals, and the indoor living-and-dining rooms add another option for cooler evenings. The outdoor BBQ station has a full grill, a sink and a pizza oven set into the stone wall, so the chef can plate either inside or outside. For events beyond the in-villa stay, such as a DJ, florist or a larger guest count, the concierge can arrange additional service through the resort.

Yes. A chef is included in the rate, along with a housekeeper and a waiter. The chef prepares all the meals at the villa: breakfast, lunch and dinner, built around what you'd like to eat that day. Grocery costs are not included in the rate; the concierge can organise a pre-arrival shop or run it day-by-day.

RESORT FEE
All guests renting private villas at Casa de Campo Resort are required to register to gain access to the resort and its amenities. Registration fees are set by and paid directly to the resort:

• Complimentary for children under 4 years old
