Travellers walking through a sunlit airport terminal – travel insurance for your Casa de Campo® villa stay | Caribbean Paradise Homes

Travel insurance

Optional for every villa stay, but worth a few minutes before you fly, especially your medical cover.

Is travel insurance required?

No. Caribbean Paradise Homes does not require travel insurance for any villa booking. Many of our guests already hold annual travel or international health policies; others prefer to arrange cover for the trip.

Either way, it pays to check what your policy actually covers in the Dominican Republic before you travel.

Your nearest hospital: Centro Médico Central Romana

If a guest needs hospital care during a stay at Casa de Campo®, the first stop is usually the Centro Médico Central Romana in La Romana, run by Central Romana Corporation, whose tourism businesses include Casa de Campo®. Its current, expanded three-level building opened in November 2011.

Rooms

84 beds in private and semi-private rooms.

Surgery

Four operating theatres, including an Olympus Endo Alpha integrated theatre for general and laparoscopic surgery.

Intensive care

Intensive care and coronary care units with wireless telemetry, and a specialised burns unit.

Mothers and newborns

Obstetrics and newborn care, including neonatal intensive care.

Imaging and laboratory

A connected imaging centre, Diagnóstica Social, with CT, MRI, mammography and bone densitometry, plus a full clinical laboratory.

Emergency and ambulances

An emergency department, a 24-hour pharmacy and three ambulances, each with a trained paramedic and a defibrillator on board.

If a case needs care the hospital cannot provide, medical evacuation cover is what pays for the transfer, which is why it is worth checking before you travel.

Medical care and evacuation

Private hospitals in the Dominican Republic’s larger cities are generally adequate, though the standard of care can vary, and providers often ask for payment or a deposit before treatment or discharge. US Medicare does not apply outside the United States. Before you travel, check:

Cover abroad

Medical treatment outside your home country, including private hospitals in the Dominican Republic.

Evacuation and repatriation

Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation, with a limit high enough for an air-ambulance transfer.

A 24/7 assistance line

A line that can arrange care and, where possible, settle the hospital bill directly.

Everyone named

Every traveller in your party is on the policy, including children and older family members.

Pre-existing conditions

Declared to the insurer and accepted before you travel.

Details to hand

Your policy number and the insurer’s assistance number saved on your phone, so the hospital can confirm your cover quickly.

Arrange cover with Cáceres & Asociados

For guests who would like help, we work with Cáceres & Asociados, a Dominican insurance broker with more than 40 years in the sector and an office at the Marina in Casa de Campo®.

They offer travel insurance, with international medical cover during your trip, reimbursement for cancellation or interruption and assistance 24 hours a day, as well as international health plans. Send your details and they will contact you directly with the options.

Caribbean Paradise Homes is not an insurer or broker and does not sell insurance. Any policy is arranged directly between you and Cáceres & Asociados, or the insurer of your choice.
