Villa Kiki - Balinese Pavilion Estate | Riomar, Casa de Campo
Villa Kiki - Balinese-Inspired Retreat
The first drink of the day belongs on the cliff-edge deck, with the river running jade below and the canyon quiet. By midday the group has scattered across the property: a few at the pool over the bluff, more on the front lawn, others stretched out under the gazebo. The walk back from Altos puts you at your own door before sundown. Everyone sits down to dinner at the live-edge table for fourteen, the open kitchen just a few steps behind.
Altos de Chavón sits within walking distance of the villa, and Dye Fore tees off a short cart ride along the cliff. Teeth of the Dog, ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards, is a longer drive across the resort, as is Minitas Beach. Villa Kiki is the villa to book when the place itself is the reason for the trip.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Is Villa Kiki a good fit for ten guests across multiple couples or generations?
Yes. Five bedrooms each have a distinct character and an en-suite bathroom, so couples and family branches keep their own spaces. The pavilion layout means living, dining, and pool zones are spread across the property rather than packed into one building, so a group can split up easily through the day. There's an 88-inch screen in the study pavilion, a baby grand piano in the main living room, and a long live-edge table for fourteen on nights everyone sits down together.
Q: Who handles the meals at Villa Kiki, and what's the kitchen set up to do?
A chef and a sous chef cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a waiter and driver in support. The two-person culinary brigade is unusually deep for the resort and built for groups who want plated dinners as well as relaxed family meals. The menu is built around what you want, shopping is handled in advance, and dietary requirements (vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies, children's preferences) are arranged with our concierge before arrival.
Q: How private is Villa Kiki — is it overlooked from neighbouring properties?
The villa sits on the canyon side of Riomar, with the rooms and outdoor zones facing the Chavón River drop rather than the road or neighbouring lots. The pool deck overhangs the bluff, the cliff-edge viewing deck looks out over forested canyon walls, and the front lawn is screened by mature trees and a bougainvillea hedge. From most of the outdoor spaces the only thing in sight is the canyon below and birds going across it.
Q: What makes the Balinese pavilion layout different from a more typical Casa de Campo villa?
Most villas at the resort are one connected building. Villa Kiki is structured as a compound, with separate pavilions for living, dining, and bedrooms linked by covered timber walkways through a planted garden. The aesthetic is paired with Asian and Indonesian antiques throughout: a carved entry foyer with blue glazed urns, temple-style arched doorways, and a music room with a baby grand piano facing the canyon. Outside, the property is broken into zones (a thatched gazebo, a cliff-edge viewing deck, an outdoor stone kitchen with a poolside bar, a brick breakfast patio), so a day at the villa never has to play out in the same room twice.
