Step out onto the back terrace at Los Mangos and the lawn runs for a full acre. It's wide enough to lose a soccer ball in, with the pool stretching down one side. The villa sits in the Los Mangos pocket of the resort, a short walk down to Minitas Beach with towels under your arm. Seven bedrooms sleep sixteen, with an included cook handling all the meals.

Breakfast on the back terrace tends to run long. By the time the dishes are cleared, the kids are on the lawn with a ball and the adults are spreading out across the property. Some of the group walks down to Minitas with towels under their arms. The rest end up at the pavilion at the far end of the lawn, where most of the grilling happens. Most of the bedrooms open onto a private garden shower behind a glass wall, which is the part of the villa nobody who's stayed here stops talking about. By sundown that pavilion is the gathering point, drinks in hand and the kids being called in off the lawn.

The villa is within walking distance of Minitas Beach, with the Marina and the Spa a short ride up the road. Teeth of the Dog (ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards) and The Links both tee off a short cart ride from the door. The Racquet Center and the Equestrian Center are close enough for a morning excursion, and Altos de Chavón above the river is worth a sunset dinner the night before everyone packs. Los Mangos is the villa to book when a big family wants the kids on the lawn and the grandparents on the terrace and nobody pressed to be in the same room as everyone else.

Q: Can Los Mangos comfortably host a multi-generational family of 14 to 16?
Yes. Seven bedrooms across the property sleep up to sixteen guests, with rooms configured for couples, solo travelers, and bunked-up kids. The one-acre back lawn gives every age its own corner — grandparents on the shaded terrace, parents around the pool, kids on the grass — and the long indoor dining table seats the whole group at one sitting, which matters when three generations want to eat together at least once a day.

Q: How do guests at Los Mangos get to Minitas Beach?
It's a short walk — well under ten minutes from the front door, mostly downhill. Most guests walk down with towels under their arms in the morning and grab a cart ride back up after lunch. Minitas has chairs, watersports, and food and drink service waiting on the sand, plus the Minitas Beach Club restaurant a few steps off the beach for a longer meal.

Q: Is Los Mangos a good fit for young children and grandparents in the same booking?
It's set up for exactly that. The back lawn is flat and screened from the road, with room for football, badminton, or a paddling pool, and the pool is gated from the lawn. RESORT FEE
All guests renting private villas at Casa de Campo Resort are required to register to gain access to the resort and its amenities. Registration fees are set by and paid directly to the resort:

• Complimentary for children under 4 years old
