Walk down the brick path from the back lawn and the sand opens into your own crescent cove behind the tree line. Villa Mar Azul sits at the east end of Punta Minitas, an eight-bedroom beachfront villa with its own private stretch of sand. Sleeps sixteen, with an included cook handling all the meals.

The pool runs along a terracotta deck above the sand. The thatched pavilion at one end is where breakfast goes out for eight. By mid-morning everyone has gone down to the cove, a red hammock strung between two palms and the water close to flat in this sheltered stretch. On the ground floor, four bedrooms open onto an open-air corridor lined with red wooden pillars. The kids' bunk room is one of them, so they can run out to the lawn without crossing the main house. Lunch goes out under the striped canopy. The long table inside seats fourteen for dinner.

Minitas Beach Club is a short cart ride up the road if anyone wants the resort beach scene with food and drink service waiting on the sand. The Marina sits just around the headland for a dinner out. The villa sleeps sixteen across eight bedrooms. Four bedrooms sit on the ground floor, including the kids' bunk room, with three larger suites and a second floor wing for the adults. The formal dining table seats fourteen and a round breakfast table seats another eight, so a full group can share a meal without splitting across rooms. The ground-floor bedroom corridor opens straight onto the lawn, which gives the kids and teens a wing of their own.

Q: Does Villa Mar Azul have a private beach, and how does it compare to Minitas?

RESORT FEE
All guests renting private villas at Casa de Campo Resort are required to register to gain access to the resort and its amenities. Registration fees are set by and paid directly to the resort:
• US$30.00 per adult, per night (ages 13 and older)
• US$15.00 per child, per night (ages 4–12)
• Complimentary for children under 4 years old
